Welcome to Our Clinic!

All of us at the Animal Hospital of Lanesville would like to welcome you to our clinic. We are very proud of our hospital and our staff.

Everyone on staff believes in our hospital vision which states, “To do what we can to relieve the stress, pain and suffering of pets. Also to enjoy life and to have a positive affect on our community.”

This is a complete animal care facility which means we have a kennel room for sick animals, a boarding facility for our healthy guests, a lab area where we are able to run many tests, an X – ray room, a grooming area and a surgery room complete with two anesthesia machines, a heart monitor and dental equipment.

The owner and Veterinarian, Dr. Rene Wingerter, is a graduate of Purdue University where she received her B.S. in agriculture in 1980 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1984. She passed the Indiana State Boards that same year and has been working in Southern Indiana ever since. She started this practice in January of 1988.

Dr. Wingerter would be unable to perform her job without the help of an excellent staff.

For your convenience, we are open over 54 hours a week. Our hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 6:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 until 2:00. If you have an after hours emergency we strongly recommend going to a fully staffed emergency clinic for the best care. We use the Jefferson Emergency Clinic (502-966-4104) for our own pets.

In order for us to prevent long waits and help us serve you better, we do go by appointment only. You may want to take advantage of our “drop off” service where you can drop your pet off in the morning on your way to work and leave him here for the day for a minimal charge.

We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.

We also work with the Floyd County Humane Society, the Floyd County Animal Rescue League and HEART, however, we do not bill.

We feel our clinic is special because of our strong commitment to education and preventative medicine. We strive not only to make sick pets well but to keep pets from getting sick in the first place.

When we opened in 1988, there was a 10% incidence of heartworms in the dogs we tested. Through persistent education and preventative medicine we have brought the incidence down to less than 1% in our patients for this deadly disease. The same has been true for parvovirus, pyometra and feline leukemia along with many other preventable diseases.

We may not be the perfect veterinary clinic for everyone, but hopefully we will be the perfect clinic for you.

If there is anything we can do for you please don’t hesitate to contact us. Thanks again for trusting us with your pet.
